true or false: get 10,000 steps per day

FALSE--BUT REALLY??

Everyone believes that we need to hit 10,000 steps per day, which is about 5 miles per day. However, this number is arbitrary and is not based on evidence.

WHAT DOES THIS MEAN?

Walking and moving throughout the day is key for long term health and wellness. Those individuals in the process of losing weight or perhaps are weight-maintaining will be successful long term by walking especially throughout the day. A sedentary lifestyle promotes weight gain and metabolic diseases.


TRICKS AND TIPS:

  • Walk in place while watching TV or scrolling through your phone.

  • Go the long way around the house.

  • When weather permits, get outside. Take the fam!

  • Park farther at the grocery store or work.

  • Yes, it's ok to figure out a track around your home. Get moving!

  • Move after meals. Your body likes it!
