In this post, we will give you 7 days of educational tips about water as well as an Agenda with 1 thing you can do every day to help you on your first week as you try to increase your water intake.
educational tips
Day 1: If you haven't already read pillar practice: drink water, read that post first. It will give you the baseline knowledge about why water is so important.
Day 2: This 2018 study showed that drinking water with a salty meal will prevent a rise in blood pressure.
Day 3: If you drink cold water, your body will have to burn calories to warm that water to body temperature. You can burn an extra 100 calories doing this. (water-induced thermogenesis.)
Day 4: Drinking water may help you eat less! Researchers found that an increase in daily plain water consumption by between one and three cups correlated with a reduction in daily total energy intake between 69 and 206 calories.
Day 5: Water is not only essential to life, but over 50% of our body is made of water. Did you know our bodies are about 60% water, and muscle is up to 80% water!
Day 6: 64 ounces a day is only a guide. Some people will need more and others may need less. Water can come from not only plain drinking water, but also in the food we eat, as well as drinks such as tea and coffee. The widely held belief that coffee or tea do not count due to the caffeine content may not be true.
Day 7: When in doubt if you are not sure if you’re drinking too little or too much water, listen and look to your body for help. If your urine is dark yellow or orange this may indicate dehydration, while pale yellow or colorless urine usually indicates you are well hydrated.
