one week plan to increase vegetable intake

In this post, we will give you 7 days of educational tips about the importance of vegetable intake as well as an Agenda with 1 thing you can do every day to help you on your first week as you try to increase your vegetable intake.


Educational Tips

  • Day 1. Read pillar practice: eat your vegetables blog article if you haven't already!

  • Day 2. Veggies give us fiber which is shown to reduce the incidence of certain cancers.

  • Day 3. Increasing fiber intake can also improve blood sugar control and improve insulin sensitivity.

  • Day 4. Aim to have 4-5 servings of fruit/vegetables a day.

  • Day 5. Studies have shown eating fruit and vegetables is associated with reduced heart disease and death.

  • Day 6. Vegetables offer a good deal of fiber, which can help improve problems with constipation.

  • Day 7. The recommended amount of daily dietary fiber is 14 grams per every 1000 calories eaten.


Agenda

  • Day 1. Start today by adding 1 serving of veggies to a meal.

  • Day 2. Learn how to make veggies taste good! Roast or sauté with butter or olive oil and don't forget the salt!

  • Day 3. Consider adding veggies (spinach, kale) to a morning smoothie.

  • Day 4. Consider packing a bag of fresh veggies to add to your lunch.

  • Day 5. Make a mason jar salad for lunch today.

  • Day 6. Consider replacing pasta with veggies, such as zucchini noodles instead of spaghetti, or zucchini or eggplant lasagna.

  • Day 7. Replace your bun or bread with Lettuce to add more veggies to your diet.
